BT Scotland has been proud to sponsor the BT Scotland National Gaelic Schools Debate for the past eight years, helping to develop young Gaels’ speaking and listening skills and grow their confidence.

The ability to communicate effectively is the number one life skill and that's why BT launched its £10m Better World Campaign, a three year initiative designed to ensure all young people in the UK get the skills and opportunities to improve the way they communicate.

The campaign aims to give young people a voice, by offering a variety of resources for young people, teachers and parents to use. We provide campaigning tools, access to influential adults, and public platforms that empower young people to have their voices heard, create real social change and make this world better.

The core communication skills of speaking and listening are even more essential in the digital age, regardless of the language you are using. That’s because communications technologies are playing an ever increasing part in the way in which we work, learn and play, reinforcing the need for a renewed emphasis on developing these key life skills in young people.

BT is committed to contributing positively to society and to a sustainable future and believes the ability to communicate well lies at the heart of being a successful pupil, employee, parent, carer and friend. It’s also at the heart of being a successful Gaelic debater so I’d like to wish everyone associated with the debate continued success.
